Shipping companies are increasingly exploring and investing in AI technologies to optimise route planning, cargo handling, maintenance scheduling and other aspects of vessel operation. Stay ahead by understanding the exciting future of autonomous ships and how laws are changing to embrace this revolutionary technology. This module unpacks the IMO Scoping Review on necessary amendments to international shipping laws to accommodate Marine Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) and its classification of degrees of automation.

 

MODULE 3: AUTONOMOUS SHIPS – THE LEGAL CHALLENGE OF SEAWORTHINESS

Understand how seaworthiness applies to autonomous ships and why it matters for your business.  This module covers compliance with IMO standards, classification society surveys and the impact on contracts of carriage and marine insurance policies.  It provides concise, comprehensive guidance on how seaworthiness affects cargo claims, crew safety and injury claims, pollution and environmental damage liability, collision and allision claims, port state control detentions, charterparty disputes, and marine insurance cover.

Whether you’re overseeing cargo handing, vessel scheduling, IT infrastructure, or strategic planning, this module equips you with the knowledge and tools to drive innovation and enhance performance in your respective roles, boosting productivity and streamlining operations across your business.

 

MODULE 5: NAVIGATING CYBER-SECURITY – PROTECTING SHIPS AND SHIPPING BUSINESSES

Explore key components of cybersecurity and its crucial role in modern shipping operations. Understand the current cyber threat landscape and discover industry best practices to protect ships and shipping businesses. The module provides knowledge and tools essential to ensure regulatory compliance and cyber resilience in an ever-evolving cyber landscape. Gain accessible legal insights into the ISM and ISPS Codes requirements, and guidelines issued by IMO, ICS, IUMI, BIMCO, and others.

 

MODULE 6: SECURING OUR PORTS – BUILDING CYBER RESILIENCE IN THE PORT AND LOGISTICS SECTOR

Focus on the specific cybersecurity challenges facing ports and logistics operations. Analyse real-world port-related cyber incidents and responses to uncover best practices for safeguarding critical infrastructure.  Learn recommendations for complying with the ISPS Code security plan and training requirements, and gain valuable insights into integrating guidelines from the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) into maritime sector policy and regulation.  This module will equip you to play your part in strengthening cyber resilience and closing the back door to potential threats to our port and logistics sector.
