New and emerging managers are tasked with the responsibility of managing a team to achieve results for the first time. They must navigate a new environment, having moved past technical task-based familiarity to managing others. The motivation for this programme is to ensure that delegates understand fundamentals of management, addressing competencies required for effective management. It covers issues ranging from the basic competencies required of a manager to the more process orientated people management.
This course aims to equip new and emerging managers with the necessary skills and competencies required to lead and manage effectively. It focuses on developing leadership skills and styles, managing a team and motivating them to achieve targets, measuring performance and dealing with conflict. It also addresses the fundamentals of management, from identifying effective communication methods to efficiently managing time and projects to meet deadlines, plus a basic understanding of finance for a new manager.
Applicants would be expected have a matriculation/ senior certificate and at least two years of work experience.
The delivery mode will be blended, with some contact and some online sessions
