French for Beginners

About this programme:

This programme is designed for delegates who want to improve their practical knowledge and understanding of French in order to improve their communicative language skills levels within Africa and Globally.

There are 26 countries in Africa that are French speaking (Francophone) as well as countries outside of Africa. The motivation for offering the programme is to assist delegates to achieve an appropriate level of language proficiency in French. This programme will promote French as an African as well as an international language and will allow delegates the opportunity to learn French.

How you will benefit:

  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate in French, successfully
  • Read and translate basic French phrases to English
  • Articulate and write basic French words, sentences, and short phrases
  • Listen to and understand spoken French
  • Speak simple French phrases, including using the correct pronunciation

  • Introduction to French
  • Everyday communicative language
  • Basic grammar in French
  • Basic French oral vocabulary

Who should attend:

  • Delegates interested in learning French, across all sectors and communities in South Africa, or who wish to improve their French skills
  • Delegates interested in learning French in order to communicate with other French speaking Africans

Entrance requirements:

No prior learning or experience is required

Duration:

3 weeks online (interactive sessions with facilitators)

* This programme is only available for a full cohort of a minimum of 20 delegates
