The South African Democratic Teacher’s Union (SADTU) subscribed a host of delegates for the customised, Finance for Non-Financial Managers (FNFM) Course, run between April and June 2018. The sessions took place over a six-day framework in several regions, including Mpumalanga, Johannesburg and Durban, and attendees comprised of Treasurers, HODs and Principals.
The FNFM course aims to improve financial literacy, it empowers delegates and gives them the confidence needed when communicating reports within their organisation. Another objective is for delegates to gain a better understanding of their contribution to strategic decision making and being able to utilise budgeting and forecasting techniques effectively.
Mawonga Blou, a Treasurer from the Eastern Cape, shared his overview of the course, stating that the lecturers were thorough and consistent and the content was made more significant by the inclusion of practical examples gained directly from financial industry experience. Financial concepts, context and operations within a non-profit organisation were examined and clarified. He felt this will assist in enhancing understanding of financial terminology and create more meaningful and professional encounters with accountants and auditors down the line.
Another delegate, Thamo Kalli, an HOD from KZN added that the lecturers were thoroughly engaging, he liked the approach taken to conduct the course and what impressed him was the lecturers’ humility. He comes away from the course with far greater financial knowledge, which he will in turn share with his colleagues.
Then next open Finance for Non-Financial Managers (FNFM) Course starts on the 5th September 2018.
