In lieu of National Women’s Day, UKZN Extended Learning hosted a High Tea as a tribute to all women, in acknowledgement and celebration of the importance their roles within our society.
Glamour was the aptly chosen theme for the day, as an estimated 350 women descended upon the ICC in Durban on the 5th August 2016, dressed to impress. There was a multitude of entertainment on offer, including various pop up shops and a fashion show provided by Woolworths, showcasing some of their latest trends. Guests were also treated to inspirational talks by influential guest speakers and presenters.
UKZN Extended Learning secured a number of great sponsors this year, all of whom contributed items towards the goodie bags each lady received, as well as lucky draws which were up for grabs. The morning started with a fitness and wellness session where the ladies were treated to a demonstration of simple exercises that can easily be practised at home. MC and entertainer, Beauty Ramapelepele kept the crowd amused throughout the event.
Guest speakers included Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder: Gift of the Givers Foundation and Dr Lucille Heslop (Oncologist) in keeping with the wellness theme. Other guest speakers included Charlotte Mokoena, HR Executive at Tongaat Hulett’s; Marilyn Ramplin, Founder of Ramplin Capital and Uraisha Haswell, Marketing Manager for Vodacom KZN.
The day was concluded by lucky draws where many of the attendees walked away with some wonderful prizes.
