The Management Development Programme (MDP) is one of our flagship programmes which has been offered successfully over the years to organisations such as Transnet Port Terminals, Mnambithi TVET College, EThekwini Municipality and SADTU. This year alone we have facilitated the MDP training to two cohorts that is open to the public, and a third cohort is scheduled to commence on the third week of October. We have also recently launched a customised MDP to Umgeni Water in Pietermaritzburg (PMB) designed specifically to address their organisational needs.
This fifteen-day programme was launched successfully, with the first block session taking place over a period of three days, and set to run for the next five months. Our excellent facilitation team included the dynamic Ms. Natasha Phathela-Williams (Leadership and Management Essentials); the knowledgeable Dr Catherine Sutherland and Patrick Martel (The water-society-space trialectic of the Umgeni Catchment); as well as the relatable Ms. Zinhle Mpungose (Leadership, Culture & High Performance.
As a continuing education subsidiary of the University, programme customisation is one of our fortes. Organisations often undergo vigorous skills training processes where the human resources departments take on the responsibilities of placing employees onto relevant training programmes, on an annual basis. Fortunately for all the organisations that we have partnered with, the customisation process has been designed in a simple, straightforward manner, and can be completed within a couple of weeks.
As one of the top Universities in the country, one of our objectives entail offering quality customised in-house programmes to both private and public sector entities, uniquely designed to meet specific development needs.
