On Thursday 26th May, UKZN Extended Learning (UEL) hosted their Management and Leadership Open Evening targeted at those pursuing careers in business or needing to upskill in their current roles. The courses (discussed/presented) included the Management Development Programme (MDP), Emerging Managers Programme (EMP) and Managing for Impact (MFI). All of these courses have been designed to equip delegates with the necessary skills in order to take the next step professionally.
The formal programme consisted of addresses by Professor Anesh Singh (Dean of the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance), and Dr Abdul Kader (Head of Leadership and Development KZN at Nedbank Integrated Channels). This was followed by testimonials from MDP alumni Katija Nxedlana (East Coast Radio), and Silver Ngwenya (Uthungulu District). Both Katija and Silver mentioned the fact that the MDP had enabled them to boost their respective careers. Not only did they develop great leadership skills but they also are able to coach and be a mentor to their respective teams as a result of their experiences on the programme.
The formalities were concluded with a Question and Answer session and closing remarks by UKZN Extended Learning CEO Simon Tankard. The evening ended in a networking session in the form of a cocktail reception where delegates were able to query their interests one-on-one with UEL staff and academics.
