UKZN Extended Learning in partnership with the KZN Taxi and Commuter Corporation (KZN TCC) and the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) launched the customised Leadership Development Programme on the 22nd March 2016.
This uniquely designed, week long programme focused on the challenges facing the taxi industry, and interweaved the regulatory framework governing the industry in conjunction with the operational aspects of business.
In the opening addresses by Mr Neil Lamble, Chief Operating Officer of KZN TCC and Mr Simon Tankard, CEO of UKZN Extended Learning, 25 prominent delegates from SANTACO (the governing structure of the taxi industry) were encouraged to acknowledge the current challenges within the industry.
As the delegates have senior leadership roles within the taxi industry, emphasis was placed on how, with the aid of the leadership programme, these delegates can be the driving force to promulgate change and manipulate the direction of the industry. This is with the aim of choosing not only a more positive path for the industry, but one of sustainability and productivity to ensure long term success and viability.
Modules are set to continue throughout this week and conclude with a graduation ceremony.
