Our first Workshop in a series of workshops was a huge success. We had guests attend from UKZN, Transnet, Edcon, Independent Newspapers, Highway Radio, Africa Centre, Tiger Brands, Beiersdorf, Engen, Group Five, etc and even freelance media specialists. We had a very informative and interactive session, followed by a networking session at Unite building on the Howard College campus. Topics of discussion included: The Past and Future of Social Media; Social Media and Brand Building; What to do vs. What not to do; Why content is king; and SEO – What, why & how.
The Workshop was facilitated by Social Media expert Bronwen de Beer, who has previously worked at and for various Durban agencies with notable brands in the business. She has been a self-employed copywriter, social media specialist and creative wordsmith at Verbosity for 2 years now and she shares her love for writing and digital media wherever she goes. She has had experience in running the social media pages for brands including Futurelife, Lion Match and Butcher Boys.
We had a few lucky draw prizes and the main prize was a place on our next Social Media course taking place at UKZN Extended Learning. The winner was Khetha Seme from Glenhow Sugar who will be attending the course scheduled to run in August 2016.
