As a company or organisation, it is in your best interest to have the best individuals in your team. Therefore, making a concerted effort in investing in the upskilling of your team assists with day to day decision-making that employees undergo, and that would have an impact on the organisation’s financial standing. Having basic financial knowledge helps with understanding different areas of business on a broader spectrum. At UKZN Extended Learning, a 3-day Finance for Non-Financial Managers programme is set to take place on the 7th of October, in which delegates have the opportunity to truly grasp the various financial acumen required to meet organisational needs and tackling different financial concepts. The purpose of this programme is to instill confidence in our delegates in understanding finance-related skills that can be transferrable to the work environment.

Speaking the language of finance can prove to be helpful for non-financial managers to possess knowledge about finance and accounting that are relevant in almost any area of business. Throughout this programme, delegates will be able to better understand and analyse financial statements; budgeting and forecast techniques; making capital investments; ratio analysis and risk management. The knowledge in these key focus areas lays a foundation to make better decisions for the company that involves finances.

This programme is significant for those that do not have a financial background, and the delineated content framework has been made to accommodate individuals new to the world of finance. The purpose is to inspire leadership and empower the delegates to make better business management decisions. Through gaining this understanding of reports, managers will be able to better interpret these documents and will be able to confidently make contributions that would help improve on the work delivered. Delegates enrolled in this programme can expect to be forced to think outside the box while still being able to utilise the programme content with the guidance of the facilitators, to relate the experience to their respective work environments.
