UKZN Extended Learning (UEL) recently hosted an Orientation Day for ward Councillors from King Cetshwayo and UmHlathuze District Municipalities. The half-day session was held to showcase and introduce delegates to the upcoming customised programme ‘Certificate in Public Administration (CPA) for Councillors’. A full itinerary of information was presented by the Programme Manager; including the programme framework and specifics of CPA classes.

Delegates then had the chance to meet each of the four facilitators, who in turn gave a concise overview on the module they will be teaching in the coming months.

The Programme Manager reported that after the orientation was conducted, an eminent sense of optimism, enthusiasm and positivity was conveyed by the Councillors. They stated that they will be looking forward to the next few months, in working towards attaining the Certificate in Public Administration, and that the orientation gave a clear snapshot of how the modules will be convened by the facilitators. We at UEL look forward to assisting the delegates in the next few months in completing this programme.

CPA for Councillors will be taking place on site at the King Cetshwayo District Municipality Council Chambers. This 6-month programme was modified and customised based on our open/public course. The four modules will include Introduction to Public Administration, Business Communication, Business Computing and Logical Reasoning, and Management Science.

CPA is aimed at people working in local, provincial and national government. The next start date for the open course is the 13th August 2018. Click here to view our course page for more details or to register.
