Newly appointed managers from several well-known corporates in Durban attended the Emerging Managers Programme (EMP) which was recently held at the UKZN Extended Learning (UEL), Howard College premises.
The programme was facilitated by Dr. Rosemary Sibanda (UKZN Graduate School of Business and Leadership Lecturer), Mr Vikani Funda (Full-time Independent Professional Consultant with 20 years of corporate leadership experience), Ms Julie Elliot and Ms Liz Witherspoon (Life Coaches, Mindfulness teachers, facilitators in personal development, leadership and Enneagram). The key focus areas included Change management, Effective communication, the role of Management and Leadership in contemporary organisations and Self-awareness.
One of the delegates, John Benn, who is a newly appointed manager from Joint Aid Management, indicated that as a new manager he is tasked with a lot of responsibility and although this is his first management position he is excited about the future, as this programme has instilled great confidence in him. He continued to state that his highlight throughout the programme was how the facilitators portrayed their diverse perspectives around the topics of management and leadership.
UEL is proud to have received such positive feedback about this programme and is looking forward to hosting the first block session of EMP in March 2018.
