UKZN Extended Learning recently facilitated the programme, Trade, Investment Promotion and Economic Development (TIPED) Programme, for delegates from companies including Trade and Investment KZN and the eThekwini Municipality’s Economic Development and Investment Promotion Unit. The programme runs in block sessions where modules such as Changing Global Context, Resource Management, Technical Management, Business Development and Marketing Strategy, etc. are covered. The programme is aimed at providing a seamless pipeline to build South Africa’s capacity to lead and manage strategic and sustainable investment, both inwards to the country and in building the country’s export capacity to global markets, in line with the strategic goals and objectives of key stakeholders.
Facilitating the third block session was Professor Pantaleo MD Rwelamila who holds a PhD in Project Management. Prof. Rwelamila is well versed in this field both academically and professionally, hence in 2005 he was the most cited academic in the research area of project management in the world.
Deli Ntombela from a company called The New look, stated that as much as the programme was designed for public sector delegates, it was highly beneficial to her as she learnt new systems such as the PFMA and MFMA of which they are unfamiliar with in the corporate sector. Fathima Amra, a sector specialist from Trade and Investment KZN, said that the lecturers are highly knowledgeable in their fields, and motivated her to improve on a number of areas in the work that she does. Takalani Rathiyaya, Deputy Head of the Economic Development and Investment Promotion Unit indicated that he appreciated the programme as it covered relevant areas to his line of work and practical knowledge in ways to attract investment into eThekwini Municipality.
The Advanced Programme will be commencing on the 17th August 2017.
