Extended Learning was introduced to Hlahlindela High School via the Adopt a School foundation. The school was established by the community of KwaNgcolosi Area which is about 10km north of Hillcrest in 1968. This makes it the oldest secondary school in the Embo, Molweni and Ngcolosi Area. The school currently has 866 learners and 27 teachers. When we visited the school we were impressed with the commitment and passion of the principal, teachers and learners alike for education. UEL plans to engage with the school on a long term basis and thus far have purchased book display easels for the library and contributed funds towards the purchase of library books. Future plans include inviting Grade 11 learners from the school to attend our Foundation Math and Physics courses at the end of the year.

UEL also invited the principal to the MDP graduation recently and donated R4 000 (which was raised by the MDP delegates and UEL) towards the purchase of books for the library.
