UKZN Extended Learning recently attended two Career Fairs that took place at Grosvenor Girls’ High on the 12th March, and Durban Girls’ High on the 15th March 2016. This presented an opportunity to speak directly to the multitude of anxious and somewhat intrepid learners and parents of Grade 11 and 12 pupils, while promoting our company and providing relevant material, information and vocational guidance in terms of future career prospects.
We were able to highlight and provide insight into the Foundation (bridging) courses with which past students have had tremendous success. The programmes on offer, namely Foundation Math and Foundation Physics allow students to essentially upgrade their marks for the specific subject by attending an intensive two or three week programme, whereafter they are assessed by means of a written examination. The agreement between UKZN Extended Learning and The University of KwaZulu-Natal allows them to then apply to UKZN using their upgraded mark, superseding the mark obtained on their matric certificate.
Our The Math Literacy Upgrade Programme (the second programme on offer), allows students to attend lectures for 6 months and enables a conversion from Math Literacy to Grade 12 Pure Math.
We look forward to the next intake of students in May and in helping them come closer to achieving their desired tertiary and future goals.
