UKZN Extended Learning (UEL) commenced the new academic year by hosting an Access Open Day whereby learners wishing to improve their matric marks for Mathematics, Physics and Math Literacy were given an opportunity to learn more about these programmes before enrolment.
Many learners were accompanied by their parents, who were not only giving support but were also asking crucial questions on behalf of their children in order to fully understand the programme requirements.
Sheldon Naidoo – a former Foundation Mathematics student gave positive feedback, stating that the course presented him a second chance to pursue his career after achieving a 70% pass mark. The new result enabled him to reapply at UKZN where he was accepted for a BCom Accounting degree in 2018. He is proud of himself and grateful to UEL for the opportunity to improve his Mathematics result.
The event was a success as the main purpose was to address all enquiries related to the Access/Bridging Programmes before students could commit themselves to registering. This was in the best interest of students and their parents.
The start dates for the Access Programmes are:
Foundations Mathematics: 15 January 2018
Foundation Physics: 29 January 2018
Math Literacy Upgrade: 5 February 2018
