This 6 day programme was completely customised to suit our clients at the eThekwini TVET College. Delegates attended two block sessions of 3 days each over two weeks. We had a group of 20 delegates and our facilitator for this programme was Lisa Dancaster, who is a senior researcher at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Her research interest includes; work-care integration and parental leave policies.

Lisa Dancaster had touched on employment leave activities and employment rights in maternity leave, sick leave, annual leave, family responsibility leave and special leave during the first session. Lisa had unpacked some challenges regarding the leave processes and how one should deal with this from an employment point of view. Throughout the programme, Lisa had involved the delegates in a number of exercises where they were able to apply what they had learnt in class.

The second week, Lisa explained the different procedures with regards to work contracts. She went over rules and implications with abiding by this within companies, and the implications should one not follow a work contract accordingly. Lisa had also prepared an assignment for delegates to complete which will form part of the assessment for the course. The delegates thoroughly enjoyed this session with Lisa and had a better understanding regarding both employment leave and contracts.

Should you require a customised or open programme, UEL is definitely your number one training provider that can understand your company’s needs, it will surely be worth your while enquiring about the various courses we have on offer.
