UKZN Extended Learning

2019 has been an exciting year for South Africa – with recent highlights as our Rugby Team brought the World Cup home and Zozibini Tunzi as the newly crowned Miss Universe 2019. Similarly, the year has been fruitful for our University as we were placed 3rd in the Country by The Centre for World University Rankings.

Being in the continuing education space as the Extended Learning division, we have worked with clients such as Transnet, ETDP SETA, Averda, National Lotteries Commissions, eThekwini Municipality, uMgeni Water and many others, and recently hosted a corporate year-end formal function aimed at appreciating our clients and celebrating a successful year while looking forward to a better 2020.

This evening event took place at the Durban International Convention Centre where our guests were elegantly dressed and ready to celebrate. Our programme director, Ms. Thuthukile Jili kept the audience entertained with her spontaneous jokes.  Our guest speaker was Professor Sandile Songca, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for the UKZN Teaching and Learning Office. He also forms part of our UEL board committee and serves as Chairperson. Our CEO, Mr. Simon Tankard gave our guests a warm welcome conveying gratitude for the newly forged relationships as well as the old ones we have maintained throughout the years.

“Moving on to yourselves as our customers and stakeholders, thank you being the amazing people and organisations that we engage with – we see it through the work that we do with you. You are building the future of South Africa and the country that we all aspire to be a part of. We appreciate your feedback, we learn a lot from what you tell us and we try to enhance our relationship and improve what we do so that we can help you improve what you are working with. We need to remain relevant to addressing your needs as our customers in this competitive market.” ~ said Mr. Tankard.

Our guests had the privilege to watch a contemporary dance piece as well as a traditional one by students from the UKZN School of Arts. As everyone indulged in their food and drinks, while networking with one another, the talented 5th Season Jazz Band got the crowd moving and singing along to some golden oldies.

It has been an absolute pleasure providing high quality short courses to our clients and we look forward to making greater impact in the year ahead.
