UKZN Extended Learning

Technology is of paramount importance throughout the various industries in our country and in the world, be it in Education, Finance, Agriculture, Construction, Telecommunications, New Media and Entertainment. This is characterised by the ongoing digital transformation as technological updates take place almost daily and such changes exert pressure onto companies and businesses to adapt in order to remain relevant and competitive.

Interestingly, at the Leaderex Conference – Digital Transformation and Future Thinking were the main theme this year. UKZN Extended Learning (UEL) participated at this two-day event as exhibitors and as the University’s representatives. Our slogan – ‘Our world is changing…shouldn’t you?’, fitted perfectly into this years’ theme and we believe that it is only through lifelong education that we can change the world, which is what the 4th Industrial Revolution demands – lifelong learning. Not only did we present on our current offerings as an institution, but we also connected, networked and influenced our prospective delegates and conversely learned from industry experts, and our alumnus.

Leaderex could easily be referred to as Africa’s information hub. With 350 masterclasses delivered and facilitated by 750 speakers, it is without a doubt that each and every one of the 7500 attendees left with some advice, knowledge, skill or possibly a different outlook on their career and business paths. These masterclasses were centred on subjects such as Digital Leadership; Insurance Tech; Legal Tech; HR Technology; Futures Thinking; Marketing and Customer Experience.

Thought leaders previously predicted that the Fourth Industrial Revolution will be driven largely by the convergence of digital, biological, and physical innovations. This subsequently calls for change in business operations and the leadership mind-set at the executive level. In order for a business to thrive in this era, it is unfortunately not a question of costs, but of investment and especially capacity for innovation.

This revolution affects all businesses and industries, both in the public and private sectors. For more info on how we can assist your company, department or organisation to say abreast in our constantly changing world, please contact:
