It is now week 5 of 15 of the Mathematical Literacy Upgrade to Grade 12 Mathematics programme and students are really engaged as they are nearly halfway through the course. The course is facilitated by Shunmugam Pillay and Dr Maga Moodley who are both experts in Mathematical Education.

When asked to share her experience so far, Geaneviv Aleece Pillay stated: “To be honest, from a dedicated Maths Literacy student from grade 10-12, it’s actually quite a change as the course is more complex. But it’s surprising to find that I actually understand the subject because my biggest fear was not understanding what was going on, and so far everything is going quite well.”

She went on to add: “I think that I could be able to achieve my potential mark that I am aiming for, and hopefully I can be accepted at UKZN for a BCom degree in Human Resources.”

Many students have completed the UEL access programmes and later commenced with formal degrees at UKZN. If you too would like to give yourself a second chance at entry into UKZN by upgrading your math mark, please contact us to be part of the next intake in July:
