The Finance for Non-Financial Managers (FNFM), three-day short course, commenced in Durban where delegates from national corporates attended the programme.
The programme was co-facilitated by Professor Mabutho Sibanda – Dean of the UKZN School of Accounting, Economics and Finance and Ms Navitha Sewpersadh – Chartered Accountant and Lecturer. Professor Sibanda focused on Financing, Business Forms and Investment Appraisal Decisions, while Navitha focused on areas such as Financial Statement, Ratio Analysis, Cost Accounting, Budgets and Relationships between Strategy and Budget.
Sharing her experience on the course, Yvonne Gengiah (UKZN School of Life Sciences: Administrator), said that the lecturers taught them to think outside the box while relating the content covered to daily experiences in their work environments. She continued to state that the knowledge acquired from this course will be advantageous to her in her newly appointed management position at work.
