UEL Support for Hlahlindlela High School

2nd December 2016

UEL was introduced to Hlahlindela High School via the Adopt a School Foundation, and we held our first meeting with the School on 10th August, at which we pledged to contribute equipment for the library, as well as support for Grade 11 Learners making the transition to Grade 12 (Maths and Science).

The School was established by the community of KwaNgcolosi Area in 1968. This makes it the oldest secondary school in the Embo, Molweni and Ngcolosi Area. The school currently has 866 learners and 27 teachers. When we visited the School we were impressed with the commitment and passion of the principal, educators/teachers and learners for education. We aim to build our partnership with the School for the long term, starting with a sponsored Maths Insights’ programme for grade 11 learners.

Another example of support via UEL is the financial donation that the recent graduating MDP Class made to Hlahlindlela High School, to assist the School with its development plans. The Principal, Mr. Masongo, attended the Graduation and accepted a cheque from the MDP graduates, on behalf of the School.
