The MBA is a whole new ball game in the business arena. Last night we visited the UKZN Graduate School of Business MBA open evening to get a preview on what it takes to take this bull by the horns. We found out that the MBA is not just a business course!
The primary purpose of this course is to train and develop graduates who can contribute to the development of knowledge such that they are prepared for advanced and specialised professional employment, with the capacity for critically aware and innovative leadership in a particular field.
It was a full house with eager candidates ready to hear on how the MBA would give them the edge. The Dean and Head of school Professor Theuns Pelser gave a speech. The agenda also included two talks by current MBA students and finally a motivation speech by Dr Sibanda the academic – co-ordinator of the MBA.
The message was clear, it is 2 years of sacrifice but worth the effort… the entrance requirements will change as of January 2016, applicants will be taken on the following criteria;
They must be 25 in Jan 2016, have 3 years full time work experience and hold an Honours or Postgraduate Diploma.
The qualification for the MBA will be at NQF level 9… any takers?
