One of the most outstanding characteristics of women is their COURAGE. The highlight of women’s month for us at UEL was receiving an invitation to hear Public Protector Thuli Madonesela speaking at UKZN on the 25th August. She is inarguably one of Africa’s bravest women.
One of the most outstanding characteristics of women is their COURAGE. The highlight of women’s month for us at UEL was receiving an invitation to hear Public Protector Thuli Madonesela speaking at UKZN on the 25th August. She is inarguably one of Africa’s bravest women.
At the event, Madonsela shared her sentiments about women in struggle and how with freedom they have great responsibility to empower themselves and others.
On being asked if she would stand for president she commented;
“I want a president who will expand the frontiers of freedom, justice and constitutionalism in this country,” she said.
“No, I am not even ready to be a politician. I am happy to do what I can in civil society”
She said as the public protector, she had instead always gravitated towards ensuring justice.
I left thankful for having remarkable women that can be emulated, in South Africa!
